Our purpose is to help drivers understand the likely cost and important details of a journey before setting off.
We want people to see their options clearly and choose the route that best fits their vehicle, budget and travel plans.
What we are building
Our long-term goal is to make road.me the one service a road traveller can rely on before and during a journey.
We want to bring together the information and practical support needed to address the challenges travellers encounter along the way. Instead of searching across multiple services or discovering important details too late, people should be able to understand and manage their journey in one place.
Road.me is being built around real travel needs. Every part of the product should make road journeys easier to understand, plan and complete with greater confidence.
Why road.me is free
We believe that essential information helping people understand their travel costs should be accessible to everyone.
Road.me is free for private users on the web, iOS and Android. Our goal is to keep the core route planning and cost calculation functions free.
We are developing other sources of income, including commercial use of our calculation technology, optional advanced services and carefully selected partnerships with companies offering useful services along the journey.
Any future partner offers should be relevant and clearly presented. They should never compromise the objectivity of the routes and cost information that road.me shows.

From the founder
Road.me was founded by Yevhen Bezghachev, an entrepreneur and traveller based in Norway.
After travelling through more than 40 countries, I know how frustrating it can be to plan a road trip without seeing the full picture. A route may appear cheaper or faster until tolls, ferries, fuel costs or vehicle restrictions are taken into account.
I wanted to create the tool I had often needed myself: one place where travellers could understand not only how to reach their destination, but also what the journey was likely to cost and what they should expect along the way.
My goal with road.me is to give people enough information to make their own informed choice—whether they prefer the most economical, fastest, shortest or simply most convenient route.
Road.me is still a young product. Every journey planned, problem reported and suggestion received helps us understand what travellers genuinely need and what we should improve next.
How road.me began
Road.me grew out of Gowme Travel, our first travel planning product.
Gowme Travel was created to simplify the planning of an entire trip. It combines personalised itinerary planning, routes between selected locations, practical travel information, expected costs and an optional concierge service for travellers who need additional support before or during their journey.
While developing these tools for journeys in Norway, we realised that some of them could solve a much broader problem: road travellers often lacked a clear overview of what a journey would involve before setting off.
A route might look simple on a map, but the actual journey involved fuel or charging, tolls, bridges, ferries, vehicle-specific prices, road conditions and schedules. This information was often spread across road authorities, ferry operators, toll companies and separate websites.
We had already built much of the technology needed to bring these details together for Gowme Travel. We realised that it could help a much wider audience, so we turned it into a separate and simpler product.
That product became road.me
How we work with data
Road and pricing systems differ considerably between countries. The price of the same journey may depend on the type, length, weight, fuel, emissions category or other characteristics of the vehicle.
Road.me combines information from public authorities, official APIs, ferry and road operators, published tariffs and open mapping and routing data. Where structured information is unavailable, we research and maintain the required data ourselves.
Prices, schedules and road conditions can change, and errors may occur. We therefore welcome reports about missing or inaccurate information and use them to improve the service.
Privacy by design
Road.me is designed to provide its main functions without requiring users to create an account.
We aim to collect only the information necessary to operate and improve the service. Personal features such as driving history are designed to keep information locally on the user’s device unless the user chooses otherwise.
More information is available in our Privacy Policy.
Where we are going
Our main goal for 2026 is to bring as much of Europe as possible into one connected road travel information system.
This goes beyond calculating travel costs. We want people crossing several countries to have a clear view of the entire journey in one place, including expected expenses, road conditions, traffic, closures, roadworks, local driving requirements and other practical information that may affect the trip.
Road.me already plans routes throughout Europe. We are now expanding detailed country coverage so that travellers can understand what to expect before departure and stay informed while driving.
This is our closest major milestone on the way to making road.me one dependable service for complete road journeys across Europe.
We want people to avoid unexpected expenses and disruptions, prepare with greater confidence and spend more time enjoying the journey itself.
Help us improve road.me
Road.me is being developed together with the people who use it.
