Weight
Tolls price by weight, not length — the heavy rate is roughly 2.5× the normal one. A motorhome over 3.5 t registered as M1 (most are) pays the normal rate with an AutoPASS tag and agreement; without Norwegian plates, ask your tag issuer to set it up.

A tag gives 20 % off tolls (up to 3.5 t) and 10 % off ferries. A prepaid ferry card gives 50 % off the ticket for private customers, 40 % for businesses.

Fuel, tolls, bridges, congestion charges and ferries in one bill, for the vehicle as it really is — anywhere in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, and across their borders. Add stops and Roadme finds the order that costs least; for an electric car it plans the charging stops.

The whole bill before you set off, in four countries and across their borders: fuel, every toll station, congestion charge and bridge at the rate for your vehicle and your hour, and every ferry we have a fare for — for a car, an electric car, a motorhome or a motorcycle. Free, no account.

What driving costs: ten drives in four countries

All figures come from the calculator above, calculated on 25 September 2026 for a petrol car under 6 metres with no tags or bridge agreements, leaving on Tuesday 29 September 2026 at 09:00. Prices are in Norwegian kroner; switch the currency in the calculator.

Totals are rounded from the calculator's own sums, so a column may differ from the total by one krone.

Fuel is the biggest item on almost every drive. Denmark is where the bridges take over: Malmö–Copenhagen is 44 km and NOK 674, almost all of it the Øresund Bridge at the online price. Sweden's charges are small, because the congestion tax only applies in Stockholm and Gothenburg. Finland has no road charges at all, so fuel is the whole bill. Norway is where all three items meet: Bergen–Stavanger is only 209 km and costs NOK 784, because NOK 354 of it goes on two ferries. Several stops on one drive? The multi-stop route planner puts them in the order that costs least.

Fuel

Kilometres driven × consumption × price, and you can set both figures yourself in the calculator above, in the Price and Consumption fields under "Vehicle and fuel". Then the bill is your car's, not an average car's. Until you do, we use 7.5 l/100 km for petrol, 6.5 for diesel and 18 kWh for an electric car. The kilometres you spend on a ferry deck are not counted: of Bergen–Stavanger's 209 km, 31 are at sea. How the price has moved, month by month: fuel prices in Norway.

If the car has a Norwegian registration number, "Look up" pulls its length, weight and fuel from the vehicle register. The app remembers your consumption for the next drive.

Tolls, bridges and congestion charges

Every charge on the route is counted once, the way each country's rules count it: Norway's toll stations by the hour you pass them, Sweden's congestion tax by the half hour and with its daily cap, Denmark's two bridges by vehicle. For Norway's tolls alone, station by station, use the Norway toll calculator — it also explains paying with a foreign or rental car.

Ferries

Every crossing on the route. Norway's AutoPASS ferries are priced for your length class, with the next departures and the wait you can expect; Almost all of Sweden's and Finland's state road ferries are free. Denmark's small municipal and island ferries are priced where a fare is published. Ferries between countries and the big commercial lines are shown with the operator, but their fares are not in the total. Ferry prices and timetables in Norway.

Electric cars

In Norway an electric car saves on all three items. Charged at home at NOK 4 per kWh, Oslo–Bergen comes to NOK 577 against NOK 1,157 in a petrol car. Tap Plan charging and the calculator plans the stops on the way at fast chargers of 50 kW and above: say how far you go between charges, and it tells you where to stop and roughly how long. Every fast charger on a map, with its network: EV charging in Norway and the Nordics.

Outside Norway the calculator does not yet hold an electricity price. For an electric car in Sweden, Denmark or Finland, type the price you pay per kWh in the Price field and the bill uses it for the whole drive.

When you leave matters

Pick the day and time before you calculate. In Norway, toll stations with a rush-hour rate charge more between 06:30 and 09:00 and between 15:00 and 17:00 on weekdays. In Stockholm and Gothenburg the congestion tax changes every half hour and is not charged at weekends, on public holidays or for most of July. Time matters on a short drive into town too: pick a car park on the map of car parks near you, and the drive in is priced for the time you set off. Rather not pay to park? There's a map of free parking near you too. Ferries run less often in the evening and on Sundays, and the wait is added to the travel time.

Motorhomes, caravans, motorcycles and heavy vehicles

  • Motorhomes pay car rates at Norway's tolls under 3.5 tonnes, and ferries by total length. Over 3.5 tonnes the heavy rate applies at the tolls and a separate ferry class. Exception: a motorhome in vehicle category M1, as most are, with an AutoPASS agreement and tag pays the car rate at the tolls whatever it weighs.
  • A car with a caravan pays tolls as the car alone, but ferries by combined length — choose the length class in the calculator.
  • Motorcycles are exempt at most Norwegian toll stations and from Sweden's congestion tax, and have their own, lower ferry fare.
  • Foreign and rental cars pay the same rates. Norway's tolls are invoiced afterwards by Epass24.

The whole bill, and the road to it

Roadme prices the drive, shows every item on the map, and drives you there with its own navigator, which announces tolls, ferries and closed roads on the way. Afterwards you get the drive's summary.
