Fares by length class
AutoPASS ferries price by the vehicle's total length including any trailer, not by type. The fares below are the ordinary rate without an agreement; an electric car under six metres pays 70 per cent of that figure, and an AutoPASS tag gives 10 per cent off. Passengers go free.
| Class | Fare |
|---|---|
| AP1 (up to 6 m) Car, van, car with a small trailer | NOK 605 |
| AP2 (6–8 m) Car with caravan, small motorhome | NOK 1,302 |
| AP3 (8–10 m) Motorhome, car with a large caravan | NOK 1,677 |
| AP4 (10–12.5 m) Large motorhome, lorry | NOK 1,905 |
| AP5 (12.5–14.5 m) Lorry, coach | NOK 2,086 |
| Electric car (up to 6 m) Zero-emission, 70 % of AP1 | NOK 424 |
| AP1 with an AutoPASS agreement 10 % off with a valid agreement | NOK 545 |
| Motorcycle Motorcycle and moped | NOK 177 |
Not sure of the class: a car with a caravan is rarely under eight metres, a motorhome rarely under seven. Pick the length in the calculator above and the crossing is priced correctly.
The crossing and the sailings
3 h 20 min on board, sailings two to four sailings a day, most in summer. The long ferry to Lofoten: three hours and twenty minutes across open sea, and the dearest ticket on this page. Book the car ahead, all year: without a reservation you can be left on the quay until the next sailing, hours away. A reserved space costs 130 kr on top of the fare for a car (170 for a motorhome, 65 for a motorcycle), so a car with a booking pays 735 kr. Without a reservation, be at the quay at least 1.5–2 hours before the sailing; with one, be there 45 minutes before, or the space goes to someone else. The alternative is to drive round via Narvik — more than 500 km.
Værøy and Røst
The route is really Bodø–Værøy–Røst–Moskenes. To and from Værøy and Røst the crossing is free, whatever you drive: Bodø–Værøy, Bodø–Røst, Værøy–Røst and on to Moskenes. Only Bodø–Moskenes, in either direction, costs a ticket. A reserved space still costs 130 kr for a car on the free legs too.
Not every sailing calls at the islands, and not every sailing goes to Moskenes. In the last week of September the ferry left Bodø straight for Moskenes, on a loop round Røst and Værøy and back to Bodø, and via the islands on to Moskenes. From Bodø it takes about three hours to Værøy and three and a half to Røst; Værøy–Røst is an hour and a half, Værøy–Moskenes just over one. Check the sailings for your day on Entur before you go. When the ferry is full, travellers to Værøy and Røst go first, because they have no other way home.
Paying and discounts
- AutoPASS agreement: the car is read automatically, 10 per cent off, invoiced afterwards. The same tag as at the toll stations.
- AutoPASS ferry card: prepaid, 50 per cent off for private customers and 40 for businesses. Worth it for anyone who crosses weekly.
- No agreement: the plate is photographed and the invoice comes by post — from Epass24 for foreign cars — or you pay on board where there is a ticket collector.
- Electric cars: 70 per cent of the ordinary AP1 fare, not half. A zero-emission vehicle longer than six metres pays 50 per cent. Plug-in hybrids count as petrol or diesel.
Without the ferry
There is no practical road around the Vestfjord for this crossing. If the ferry is cancelled, Roadme says so and shows the next sailing that runs.
The whole drive, not just the ferry
The ferry is one item. Roadme puts fuel and tolls on the same bill, shows the next departures on every crossing, and tells you when a sailing is cancelled. Ferries in Norway and the whole bill.
